Automatic watering for the garden.

Automatic irrigation for the garden.

Today, progress and automation are successfully becoming an integral part of our lives. One of the aspects of the application of these benefits of civilization in the garden is the automation of tree watering. A properly installed auto-watering system greatly facilitates work and is a necessity for a happy garden owner, who will be able to free up time to relax and enjoy berries, fruits and other fruits of the harvest.

In Ukraine, most often, users are interested in care for fruit trees, as the climate allows growing a rich harvest, but decorative trees and shrubs are also of great interest to landscape designers and ordinary homeowners who want to create a unique image of their home plot. Gardening center specialists, in turn, emphasize the importance of automation of watering garden plots and strongly recommend the implementation of this process to all their clients, as they will not be able to guarantee the healthy development of expensive and demanding plants without this factor.

Auto-watering of fruit trees.
Watering adult plants and seedlings has a significant difference. Seedlings of different species and varieties of trees have different needs for moisture. The volume of water needed for seedlings in the first year of planting varies from 20 liters every week to 30 liters, approximately 4-5 times during the entire season. With each year of the plant’s life, the frequency gradually decreases, but the volume of water for one watering increases. As the tree crown grows, using the formula, experts calculate the required amount of liquid needed by the plant for one-time watering. For example, a 7-year-old apple tree needs 50-60 liters of water at one time, and a taller one with a developed crown needs already 100-150 liters.

A dynamic self-watering and fertilizer system must be developed according to the needs of the changing and developing garden. Dynamism and transformation are provided by modern devices and materials for automating irrigation. Not all irrigation options are suitable for woody plants of life forms. For example, sprinkling is absolutely not rational, from the point of view of getting moisture into the root zone of the plant and saving water resources, in addition, the accumulation of water droplets on the leaves of plants, which has a detrimental effect on its development, or can even cause sunburn.

The main types of automatic watering of trees and shrubs are:
– Drip irrigation.
– Surface root irrigation.
— Soil root irrigation.

Drip irrigation is the least expensive type of irrigation according to the budget and installation method. The operation of this type of humidification consists in the use of drip hoses with holes (droppers), the distance between which is approximately 30 cm. The drip hose is placed around the trunk of the tree in one ring (if it is a sapling) or several rings according to the age and size of the plant. The disadvantages of such a system are:
-unsightly appearance of hoses lying on the surface of the soil.
– significant duration of irrigation (a ten-meter drip line produces 50 liters of water within half an hour)
– wear and tear of droppers (in the absence of a filter, the holes are quickly clogged from the inside, and soil particles have a negative effect on the outside).

Surface root irrigation is carried out using special nozzles – bubblers. these are small nozzles that spray water with a given force and a certain radius. Bubblers are static and dynamic. If you choose the first device for watering, then you should be prepared for the fact that you may have to change them often. They are prone to damage to lawn mowers and pets. Dynamic bubblers appear from the ground only during watering, thanks to the water pressure.
The number of such mechanisms depends on the size of the irrigated area. One bubbler can pour 2 or 4 to 8 liters. of water per minute depending on its cross-section. The ratio of the price and the result of the system of surface root irrigation with balers is the most profitable.

Subsoil root irrigation is both the most effective and the most expensive type of self-watering in terms of materials and installation. The peculiarity of this type of irrigation becomes clear from the name. A system of pipes and devices are located below the surface of the soil, delivering nutrients and water directly to the roots of plants, improving gas exchange, aesthetic appearance and water consumption.
